PWCS News

Welcome to Lake Ridge Elementary School!
Lake Ridge Elementary School is a fully accredited school of 660 students in grades K-5. We're a 14-time Prince William County School of Excellence awardee. We are proud of our French Program. We're a friendly community and we love our students!

We can be reached by telephone or email.  Our office phone number is 703.494.9153. Our current fax number is 703.494.1309.

LRES is a School of Excellence!
We are proud to announce that we have been named a PWCS School of Excellence!  This is our fourteenth year and we continue to work to ensure that we will be making it a fifteenth time.  We'd like to congratulate all of our students and thank our staff, PTO, parents and supportive community for working together to support student learning.
New Wing Opens
We are delighted to announce that our new wing is now open and occupied!  On Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, Miss Lienau and Miss Stivason's students started their day in the new classrooms.  Everyone was very excited and had a wonderful day!  We look forward to our renovation continuing and getting our students and teachers into bright, updated classrooms.

Coming Soon - Scholastic Book Fair
Mark your calendars, the Scholastic Book Fair is returning to Lake Ridge ES!  The Sir Readalot's Castle Book Fair will be at LRES from December 1-5.  Family Night will be on December 3 from 5-7:30 pm.  More information will be sent home in the upcoming weeks.
Family Science Night
At our Family Science Night, students and parents enjoyed a number of fun and interesting hands-on science activities which were provided by the Children's Science Center. We'd like to thank Mrs. Mangum for coordinating this special event, volunteers for their hard work, and our wonderful LRES students who love to learn about science.
Superhero Fun Run a Big Success!
LRES students, parents, and staff members joined together for a beautiful autumn day of fitness and fun.   The Superhero Fun Run was part of the PTO Fall Fundraiser, which raised money to support programs at LRES.  We'd like to thank the many volunteers who helped with the planning, fundraising, and running of this successful event!

PTO Fall Fundraiser
Our fall PTO fundraiser recently concluded.  100% of the money raised will be used to buy educational resources for LRES students.  Students earned wonderful prizes while raising money for our school. Click here for a flyer with more information.  Thank you for supporting Lake Ridge Elementary School!
Walk to School Day
Many students and parents participated in this month's International Walk to School Day.  Mrs. Valero, our Physical Education teacher, coordinated activities for LRES students and congratulated everyone on their participation.
School Hours 8:45 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.
Please recall that Prince William County increased the school day by 10 minutes last year to ensure that Prince William County Schools would meet the state requirement of a minimum of 990 instructional hours. Therefore, the school day is six hours and 40 minutes. At Lake Ridge ES, students will be marked tardy after 8:45 a.m. and dismissal begins at 3:25 p.m.
Thank You, PTO!
LRES students and staff would like to thank our PTO for their hard work on behalf of our students. This year our PTO bought 30 iPads, an iPad cart, and many other resources for LRES.   To see students using the iPads, click the Technology button at the left, then Technology Users.  Thank you, PTO, for this and for the many wonderful things you've done for our school!
5th Graders Visit French Restaurant
Fifth graders were treated to a culinary experience during a field trip to French restaurant Bistro L'hermitage in Occoquan. The students enjoyed a choice of desserts, which they ordered in French. Merci beaucoup to the LRES PTO for helping to defray the cost of this special experience. The students had a wonderful time!
