Dear Parents:

In our commitment to ongoing communication, it is with great pleasure that I share the exciting security measures that were recently installed at Lake Ridge Elementary School.

As you know, we have always had all exterior doors locked with the exception of the front doors that lead into the vestibule and then directly into the office. Starting today, all doors, to include the main doors, will now be locked due to the installation of an Access Control button. However, during arrival and dismissal, we will continue to have specific doors open with a staff member present.

To the left of the main doors, you will find an Access Control call button that you will need to push before being allowed to enter our school. You will be asked by an office staff member to stand in front of the camera, show your ID, and answer a basic question or two before being buzzed in. Please remember that you still need to present the required current government issued photo ID to sign in when you enter the office in order to enter the building beyond the front office.

In order to keep our children as safe as possible, we ask that, when entering or leaving the building, you do not hold the doors for other visitors. If there is more than one person at the call button, we will speak with you each person individually.

We are pleased to have this new security measure at Lake Ridge Elementary School. A special thank you to the many PWCS employees who worked very hard to make this happen in a short amount of time.

If you should have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call our office at 703.494.9153.
